What is Advanced Parameter Palette?
It's another way to change the values of Poser's dial values, as I don't like the dials nor the text inputs it provides.

Currently Advanced Parameter Palette (APP) is a very basic application, just providing a few different ways to change Poser's dial values. There are probably some more input options comming, as I'm still not sure how I like it best - you can suggest an input option, too, if you like.

Here's the current interface:

On the left hand side you can see the list of parameters of the currently selected actor in Poser.
The area in the upper part of the right hand side is used to change the dial value via the mouse wheel. Rolling it up and down will change the value by 10^x (where x is the value in the textbox). You can change x by holding down the shift key while using the mouse wheel.
Below that area you can manipulate the dial value with the keyboard - by entering the dial value. Unlike Poser's dials the value is updated as you change it you don't need to press return. You can swith the sign by double clicking it, too.
Further down are 16 lines of digits fromo 0 to 9 where you can directly manipulate the input, too. Either hover over one row and use the mousewheel or click the digits directly.

That's all there is about manipulation.

You probably won't need the "Update data from Poser" button as that is done each time you activate the APP form.
The "Topmost window" checkbox might be useful as it keeps the window on top of other applications (like Poser) when checked.

So...
How does it work?
To set the dial values and get the information from Poser, APP currently uses version 1.4 of Tromnek's PRPC (Poser Remote Procedure Call). You'll have to run PRPC python script first, then the APPRPC python script and after that start the APP application itself... Confusing, isn't it? (And not just because of the many abreviations ;-))

If you got it working (see below how to do that), it's rather simple:
Select the actor you want to manipulate in Poser (like the left arm of figure 1), then change to APP and it'll automatically display all the parameters available, just like Poser's Parameter Palette. Then you can change the values to your liking. Each change will imediately be visible in Poser.

That's it, nothing more to it now. No changing multiple actors at one, or such fancy stuff for a 1.0 release yet ;-)

Warning!
Before using this application be aware that:
APP itself is in early alpha stage, so there is absolutely no varanty that it'll work as intended on your system. Don't start using it on an important scene file...
PRPC itself has limitations, like suppressing dialogs, so please do NOT change the number of frames to a number lower than the current value, as you won't get the confirmation dialog asking you if you really want to do it... The frames will just be gone and no Poser 7 undo will help you then (as you can't undo that...)

Installation
Still reading? Good :-)
There are two ZIP files you'll have to download and install. One file contains PRPC 1.40.03 BETA (adapted so the correct checkboxes to use APP are set and the APP client module) and the other ZIP file contains the APP installer. After extracting both ZIP files, you can start the installation of APP by runing "setup.exe". (After successful installation you're probably greeted by a dialog complaining that PRPC isn't running, so...) The next step would be to run Poser and then use "File->Run Python Script" to start the "PRPCd250b03.py" script and after that the "prpcAPP140b01.py" script. After that you should see this window running, too:

Now change back to the waiting dialog and let it try again. It shouldn't complain about a PRPC not running anymore and you're read to change your first values with APP.

Known issues
This application requires Poser 5/6/7 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (willl be installed when running the setup, if not already installed).

Known issues
- There are more decimal places than Poser 7 uses and they keep changing even if you change other digits. Well, Poser 5/6 use more than 3 decimal places, and the changing digits are Poser 7 internal data, so please live with the extra decimal places for a while ;-)
